ARV Programme

Every dog that is sterilized, is also vaccinated. But what about the clipped eared dogs that were sterilized last year and the year before and the year before that?

Anti- Rabies Vaccination has to follow a yearly schedule, both in pet and stray dogs. BBMPs  ARV programme addresses this issue. All NGOs doing ABC-ARV have a separate team which does revaccination in their areas, on dogs that have been vaccinated earlier, at the time of the sterilization operation.

A team consisting of 2 catchers and one para-vet travel by auto and vaccinate the dogs on a regular basis. They visit the same wards in the same months, each year.

The re-vaccination programme has been intensified over the last 2 years. Earlier, the number of ARVs done was the same as the ABC-ARV number. Now, each NGO does double the number of ARVs alone, as ABC-ARV.

CUPA conducts 900 sterilizations in the following wards, and does 1600 ARVs in the same wards, using 2 teams.

Ward Nos. 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30, 48, 49, 59, 60, 61, 78 are covered by one team – 800 vaccinations

Ward Nos. 50, 57, 58, 62, 63, 79, 80, 88, 113 done by the second team – 800 vaccinations
